Assertive community treatment: What are the treatment standards?

Assertive community treatment is an intensive and highly integrated approach for community mental health service delivery.


Assertive outreach is provided to organizations who have had difficulty maintaining contact with mental health services. ACT is the most intensive community based program and it is specifically designed for people who have experienced difficulty maintaining their recovery. Services are provided by a team of a multi-disciplinary mental health professionals who provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services to individuals within the community.


Combined with communication and available resources, case management services promote quality cost-effective outcomes. Mental health and social services are increasingly shifting away from traditional case management models.


The focus of your program is to provide each participant with wrap around services, using a person-centered approach.


• To engage consumers in treatment, your team must work on goals that are developed by and important to the consumers.


You realize that continuity of treatment service is one of the contributing factors in wellness. you will continue to be an advocate for the person while educating the community in the promotion of mental and behavioral health. Assisting individuals in living meaningful and productive lives in the community. Your services are based on the belief that all individuals have the right to full participation in community living.
